- The Computer Centre, in collaboration
with the Registry and Estates Office, has launched the HKU Smartcard Integrated
Access and Facilities Control System (SIFS) for regulating
access to centrally-timetabled classrooms on the main campus in
November, 2006. The benefits of the system include energy
saving, better classroom management, improved security measures and
PINS for AV boxes is no longer required. The user must present a
valid smart card at the smartcard reader installed outside the
classroom for,
- room checking-in : full
lighting and air-conditioning will be turned on automatically
- open the AV box : use of
installed AV equipments
- room checking-out : all
lighting (except the minimum lighting) and air-conditioning will
be turned off 10 minutes after the end of the booking. The
classroom doors will also be locked by the system,
